According to a statement from CIPRA, to which VerAngola had access, the conversation with Paul Kagame was long and took place as part of Angola's efforts to achieve peace in the region.
"The President of the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço, held a long telephone conversation this morning [Thursday] with President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, as part of Angola's efforts to resolve the security crisis in the Democratic Republic of Congo," the statement reads.
The head of state also did not forget his DRC counterpart, with Téte António traveling to Kinshasa, in the DRC, to speak with Tshisekedi.
"In this regard, President João Lourenço sent the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, as his special envoy to Kinshasa, to speak with the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi," CIPRA points out.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to which VerAngola had access, Téte António delivered a message from João Lourenço to Félix Tshisekedi this Thursday.
"The content of the message was not revealed, but it is known that the Angolan head of state has expressed his solidarity with the democratic Congolese people and government, as well as mentioning the strengthening of bilateral and multilateral relations, including issues of mutual interest at regional and continental level", the ministry said.
The delivery of the message to the president of the DRC was witnessed by Ambassador Jorge Cardoso, Director of Africa, Middle East and Regional Organisations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, by Miguel Costa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Angola to the Democratic Republic of Congo, as well as by other senior officials of the State's central apparatus.
It should be noted that the message "was delivered just under a week after Luanda hosted, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the 4th Ministerial Meeting on the Security and Peace Situation in the East of the Democratic Republic of Congo".
