The National Development Plan 2027 and the country's vision for 2050 will be financed by the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), and this support is part of a global package of 500 billion dollars aimed at benefiting several African countries, including Angola, and will last five years.

According to Sidi Ould Tah, president of BADEA, who was speaking to the press after meeting with the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, in Luanda this Wednesday, the amount made available was determined at the Arab-African Economic Conference, held in November last year.

The meeting with João Lourenço, according to a statement from CIPRA to which VerAngola had access, served for the two to discuss "Angola's financial priorities and align BADEA's support with the country's needs".

"During this meeting, the President of the Republic explained Angola's priorities and the bank will work with the economic team to align its priorities with those of the Republic of Angola, which will guide our cooperation over the next five years, in what we call the Strategic Partnership Agreement", said the official, quoted in the statement.

"The bank, which is owned by 18 Arab countries and supports 44 African countries, will work with the Angolan government to define which projects will receive funding," the note reads.

According to the president of BADEA, in addition to the support of the aforementioned bank, ten Arab multilateral financial institutions will also participate in the financing project.

In addition to the meeting with Sidi Ould Tah, the President of the Republic also held a meeting this Wednesday with the representative of the UN Secretary-General for the Great Lakes Region, Huang Xia.

On the occasion, Huang Xia "praised the commitment and confidence in the leadership of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, for resolving conflicts in the sub-region of the African continent".

Speaking to the press at the end of the meeting, the representative of the UN Secretary-General for the Great Lakes Region said that João Lourenço had conveyed to him "his vision on the unfolding of the situation in the region", as well as on the "dynamics of recent events", according to another statement from CIPRA, to which VerAngola had access.

The official said that they had confidence in João Lourenço's leadership: "We have confidence in the leadership of President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, and also in the efforts he has made so that this Luanda Process will, in fact, bring a definitive conclusion to the situation of security and peace that still reigns here in the sub-region".

"We are at your disposal to support your efforts and also the efforts made during this Luanda Process and that we will have lasting peace and stability in the region", he added.

Huang Xia also warned that there was "recurrent and militarized tension in the region", and urged "voices to be raised to reduce the intensity of the conflict and prevent it from spreading throughout the region".

"Only by de-escalating [the conflict] will we be able to create a favorable environment for the implementation of the Nairobi Framework Agreement and also create more open, possible and favorable conditions so that the engagement of each party within this Nairobi Framework can, in fact, become a reality", he considered.
