MPLA regrets and calls for accountability in the case of death at Américo Boavida Hospital

The secretariat of the Executive Committee of the Luanda provincial committee of the MPLA hopes that “those involved in the death of a citizen in the area adjacent to the Américo Boavida Hospital will be “exemplarily held accountable”.

A 25-year-old man died outside the Américo Boavida Hospital, where he was denied assistance by the medical team on duty, which has since been suspended by the administration.

In the statement, to which the Lusa agency had access, the secretariat of the Executive Committee of the MPLA provincial committee "regrets what happened", addressing the family to "regret for this difficult loss", which, it considers, "leaves everyone in mourning".

He reaffirms his commitment to "the humanization of services and respect for human dignity, especially respect for life", and says he hopes that "those involved, once the facts have been investigated, will be held exemplarily responsible".

The HAB management announced the suspension of the medical team, following the incident, and reported the incident, due to alleged negligence of the medical team on duty, to the Criminal Investigation Service.

Images circulating on social media show the corpse of a young man on the ground outside the HAB, located in the Urban District of Rangel.

In a note, the municipal administration of Luanda informs that it went to the family's residence to provide "support", regrets what happened and expresses solidarity with the family, condemning "any act that violates human dignity and life, and compromises in providing competent institutional support.
