Company “Sal do Sol” has about 7000 tons of salt waiting for disposal

The company “Sal do Sol”, located in Moçâmedes, in Namibe, has a stock of around 7000 tons of salt for disposal. The information was provided by businessman Fernando Solinho, who also said that the flow problems are motivated by the fact that the government imported 20,000 tonnes of this product last year.

"Right now we have around 7,000 tons of salt, so this has only one reason: during the last year, the beginning of this year, unfortunately, the Executive imported 20,000 tons of salt", said the businessman, speaking to Televisão Pública de Angola (TPA).

"Obviously 20 thousand tons of salt is not sugar, it takes a long time to be consumed and we are still suffering the effects of this import", he added.

According to TPA, the company produced more than 3000 tons of salt in the last eight months. However, the degree of production does not correspond to the sales capacity.

This is a scenario that has raised concerns among the sector's agents, who defend the need to reduce imports of this product, according to TPA.

Installed on 160 hectares, "Sal do Sol" is dedicated to the production of salt for human consumption, paying four million kwanzas per month for packaging material.
