Government honors Petro de Luanda for the victories in Girabola and Cup

The government of the province of Luanda this Wednesday paid tribute to Petro de Luanda, guided by Portuguese coach Alexandre Santos, for the achievements of the last editions of the national football championship and the Angola Cup.

During the ceremony, the local governor, Manuel Homem, was honored to receive the Angolan champions at the premises of the provincial government of Luanda.

"It is an honor to welcome you to this house, which belongs to all Luandans. It is also a source of pride and satisfaction for us to understand that our province is one of the most prestigious in our ports, but we are also facing the most titled team", he said.

The president of Petro de Luanda, Tomás Faria, was grateful for the gesture.

"On behalf of the club that I have the honor of managing, I thank you for giving us this audience, to present our 'double' cups. For us, the gesture is commendable," he said.

Alexandre Santos stated that he hopes to see his team being honored more often by the Angolan government.

"This tribute, which the governor paid to us, is satisfactory and we hope that next year we will be here again, because these tributes are always welcome", he stressed.

For the first time, a Girabola winning team was honored by the government of Luanda province.
