In a telephone conversation, Macron congratulated João Lourenço on his re-election and told him that France would be represented at ministerial level at his inauguration ceremony, on 15 September.
The French President also "expressed his willingness to work on deepening relations between France and Angola, particularly in the field of agriculture", said the French presidency.
He also "welcomed the diplomatic efforts made by Angola, through the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (CIRGL), towards peace and stability in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo [DRCongo] and in the Great Lakes region".
"It also reiterated its support for Angola's commitment to the peace process in the Central African Republic and to the implementation of the Luanda roadmap", the statement added.
According to a statement from the Presidency, João Lourenço also congratulated the presidents of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, of Botswana, Mogkweetsi Masisi, of the Central African Republic, Faustin Archange Touadera, and of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic.
According to the same source, the President was also greeted by the DR Congo doctor Denis Mukwege, Nobel Peace Prize winner, recognized for his action in favor of women victims of violence in the context of armed conflicts.
