The request was made this Monday in Luanda by Adalberto da Costa Júnior in a statement on the electoral process, after the 24 August elections, in which he also proposed comparing the records held by the various contestants with those of the CNE.

The party leader pointed out this Monday discrepancies of more than 500 thousand votes, of which 347 thousand were subtracted from the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA), which, he said, changes the results announced by the CNE in favor of the "little brothers".

"The discrepancies shown indicate the existence of willful manipulation of the results, which can only be clarified by comparing the minutes held by the competitors and the CNE", stressed Adalberto da Costa Júnior.

The UNITA leader also asked for the annulment of voting at polling stations "where substantive irregularities have been observed, which distort the general result" and the constitution of a multidisciplinary commission composed of the CNE, members of competing political parties and members of civil society, in the presence of national and international observers.

Adalberto da Costa Júnior presented this Monday the numbers of the party's parallel count, which give the victory to UNITA, contradicting the official results announced by the CNE, and stated that "by depositing with the CNE and the Constitutional Court the complaints and appeals aimed at restoring the electoral truth", is granting "a decisive opportunity" to resolve the electoral dispute.

"The Angolan people, the only holder of the constituent power, has already expressed its will. No constituted power - CNE or TC - can administratively annul the sovereign decision of the people", underlined the leader of the "Galo Negro" party, reaffirming that the MPLA and its candidate [João Lourenço] did not win the elections and that UNITA and its partners, "will never defraud the expectations of citizens aiming at regime change".

Last week, CNE president Manuel Pereira da Silva released the final tabulation minutes of the August 24 general elections, which proclaimed the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) and its candidate, João Lourenço, as winners. with 51.17 percent of the votes, followed by UNITA with 43.95 percent.

With these results, the MPLA elected 124 deputies and UNITA 90 deputies, almost double the 2017 elections.

The Social Renewal Party (PRS) won two seats in parliament by adding 1.14 percent of voters' votes, the same number of deputies that won the National Liberation Front of Angola (FNLA) and the Humanist Party of Angola (PHA) with 1.06 percent and 1.02 percent of votes respectively.

The CASA-CE coalition, the APN and the P-Njango did not obtain seats in the National Assembly, which in the 2022-2027 legislature will have 220 deputies.
