Pedro Gonçalves calls 28 players to qualify for the 2022 Worlds

Portuguese coach Pedro Gonçalves called 28 players for the double confrontation between Angola and Gabon, in the qualifying phase for the World Cup in Qatar, to be held in 2022.

In a press conference, in the announcement of those called up, Pedro Gonçalves lamented the financial limitations that the Angolan Football Federation is facing.

"The truth is that our budget limitations force us to tremendous restrictions and that, obviously, there is no way to say the opposite, it converges in the performance we present. Even so, we look for solutions. We have potential, but we can't make it profitable because we don't have the resources to do that" he said.

The national team is focused on Sunday, in Luanda, and plans to hold eight training sessions, and a private game with Petro de Luanda, coached by Portuguese Alexandre Santos, before hosting Gabon, in Luanda, on 8 October, and visiting that country three days later.

The Angolans, who have not yet scored, occupy the last position in group F, which is led by Libya with six points, followed by Egypt with four. Gabon is ranked third, with one point.

The national football team has two defeats, against Egypt by 1-0, and against Libya, for the same result.
