The national team started working towards victory from the first minute, and ended the first period with an 11 point lead (25-14). In the second period, the angolans remained strong and went to halftime leading by 39-28.
In the third period, the teams were more evenly matched, but Angola still held the lead and won the period by 14-11. However, in the fourth period, the mozambicans turned things around and won by 17-22.
Although Mozambique won the last period, Angola managed to stay ahead and won the match by 70-61.
According to Angop, the angolan Avelina Peso was the best scorer of the game, having scored 17 points. In second place was Ingvild Mucauro, from Mozambique, with 16 points.
With this victory, Angola occupies the second place in the group B table. The national team returns to the field this Monday, at 20pm, to play against Nigeria, which is in first place in the table.
In the competition, which is being held in Cameroon, the three teams in the group go through to the next stage. The first place gets direct access to the quarterfinals, while the second and third places go through to the knockout stages.
