President authorizes 12.7 million dollars to buy apartments for magistrates

The President has authorized an expenditure of 12.7 million dollars, as part of the financial rebalancing, for the purchase of 54 apartments to provide "decent accommodation" for judges of the higher courts, judicial magistrates, and prosecutors.

Each apartment of typology T4, in the Development Cidadela Towers, in Hoji-ya-Henda Avenue (Luanda) will have an approximate cost of about 235 thousand dollars.

The economic and financial rebalancing of the housing sales contract is justified by the current macroeconomic, financial and exchange rate situation that has "reflected directly on the prices of goods, products and services," and the Minister of Finance is responsible for signing the contract addendum.

The presidential order, signed by João Lourenço, mentions that "the executive is committed to improving the living conditions of the bodies that make up the State apparatus, with a view to increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of its activity and consequent provision of a service with more quality.

Already in 2017, the government had the green light to buy 23 floors in the same development with the aim of "providing decent accommodation for the technical staff of the organs of justice," namely the Attorney General's Office, Supreme Military Court, Military Prosecutor's Office, Military Police and other entities in the sector, as reported at the time by the weekly newspaper Novo Jornal.

The deal was signed with the Angosteel company, whose construction partner is portuguese José Guilherme, also known as "Zé Grande", who became famous for a generous offer of 14 million euros to the former president of Banco Espírito Santo, Ricardo Salgado.
