The visit served to João Lourenço to verify the state of the works of the project as well as to launch the construction of more 500 houses. The construction of these houses, of typology T3, is estimated in four billion kwanzas and, according to Angop, serve to respond to the housing problems that exist in that province.

The President also handed over the keys of two houses. The awarded ones were Virgínia Aguiar and António Domingo Ebos.

During the ceremony, João Lourenço stressed the importance of projects of this kind and encouraged other provincial governments to follow this example, aiming at ending the construction in risk areas.

In May last year, the works for the construction of the 'Quilómetro 11' project started. According to Angop, the development will have access to drinking water and electricity.

Moreover, it will be composed of about a hundred houses and 12 model houses of various types. At this moment, the 12 houses are already built, and the 100 houses are in the construction phase.

The construction of a police station, elementary school, nursery school, health center, fire station, and a commercial area, among others, is also planned.

To be built in an area of 262.32 hectares, the project has 700 lots, and 495 lots have already been distributed.

First, the project was thought to re-house the more than 260 families from Ndalatando that were affected by the rains, but now it will also be used to house people who built in risk areas and also those who are interested in obtaining space to build houses or commercial spaces.

The President began a two-day working visit to the province on Tuesday. On Tuesday, Lourenço met with the provincial government of Kwanza Norte to learn about the general state of the province.

On Tuesday, he also met with religious representatives, traditional authorities, youth leaders and businessmen.

On Wednesday, before leaving Ndalatando, he visited the 'Quilómetro 11' housing project.
