Among the various difficulties presented, the housing sector stands out. The governor of the province, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho informed the Head of State that most families in Kwanza Norte live in precarious situations.
Cited by the Jornal de Angola, Mendes de Carvalho said that the suspension of the works of Ndalatando Centrality - where initially more than 200 apartments were going to be built -, more than two years ago, has caused concern among the population.
However, he said that in order to try to solve the housing problems, the government of Kwanza Norte has started a project for directed self-construction in Quilometer 11, which will comprise about 3,000 plots.
This project, according to Jornal de Angola, will be visited this Wednesday by João Lourenço.
According to the same newspaper, the Head of State recently gave the green light for the construction, in that location, of another 500 social residences, and the works should start soon.
The provincial governor indicated that the province has 417 public schools and three private schools, in a total of 967 classrooms.
For this school year, 188.506 students are enrolled, and more than 4,400 teachers have been hired. However, 33,603 children are still outside the education system.
He indicated that, aiming to fill the dropout numbers, 30 new schools are being built, under the PIIM. These new schools will accommodate about 27,720 students.
As for higher education, Kwanza Norte has two schools: the Higher Pedagogical School of Kwanza Norte and the Higher Polytechnic Institute of Ndalatando.
It is recalled that the President began on Tuesday a two-day working visit to that province.
