Angola leaves a message of confidence to US investors

The secretary of State for Finance and Treasury, Ottoniel dos Santos recalled this Tuesday, in Luanda, the framework agreement for trade and investment, in force between Angola and the United States of America, aimed at promoting greater trade and investment between the two countries.

Ottoniel dos Santos was speaking during a session with American investors, of the cycle of meetings called Roadshow PROPRIV, whose objective is to promote the Privatization Program to the international community.

He also recalled that Angola is the third largest trade partner of the United States in the sub-Saharan region, with oil being Angola's main export to that country.

"That is why it is my duty – in these brief words that I have the honor to address to you at the opening of this workshop – to speak openly with you about all the transformations that the Government of Angola has undertaken to make our country more attractive for Private Investment ", said the secretary of State, in a statement that VerAngola had access to.

In short, he reinforced the Government's vision for transforming the country's economic and social life. "It is this vision that supports the modernization of our legal framework, namely in the Private Investment Law and the Competition Law, both of 2018. And also in the opening of the Capital Account, for foreign investors, by the National Bank of Angola, in December of 2019. It is with this vision that we are waging an unprecedented fight against corruption and other evils that harm our society, our economy and investor confidence", he concluded.

The Secretary of State thus left a message of confidence in institutions and security in procedures and clarified that investment opportunities in Angola cut across several sectors, and go far beyond the portfolio of the Privatization Program.

During the meeting with US investors, "special" emphasis was also given to the assets of the state oil company Sonangol, which are enrolled in the Privatization Program.
In addition to representatives from the United States of America embassy, the two-hour meeting was attended by IGAPE Administrator, Augusto Kalikemala, BODIVA Executive Committee chairman, Walter Pacheco, and Sonangol executive coordinators, Alexandre dos Santos and Daniela Matos.

This meeting is part of a roadshow with international investors, with the aim of presenting the potential of the ongoing program since 2019.
It should be remembered that the Privatization Program is being conducted by IGAPE – Institute for the Management of State Assets and Participations.
