BNA imposes measures to stop floods to raise money

The National Bank of Angola decreed measures to try to stop the floods to raise money, including the extension of the hours of bank branches and availability of at least 95 percent in cash at ATMs in periods of greatest demand.

According to a directive published on its website, the National Bank of Angola (BNA) establishes that banks are obliged to ensure that ATMs provide a cash rate of not less than 95 percent during normal business hours during the period of 25th. each month until the 5th of the following month, including Saturdays until noon.

In Luanda, and in the other provinces, queues to collect money at the counter or at ATMs are frequent, often with no cash available, especially at the end of the month when many civil servants receive their salaries.

In addition to strengthening ATMs, the BNA stresses that banks should consider extending the opening period of their busiest branches, including Saturdays, whenever necessary, in particular during payment periods for civil servants' salaries, disclosing service hours.

Failure to comply with the provisions of this directive, as well as the duty to provide the customer with a quality service, is punishable under the terms of Law no. , which gives until September 15 for banks to adapt to the measures.
