Angola prepares return to face-to-face classes in October

The Minister of State and head of the Civil House of the President of the Republic, Adão de Almeida, announced the possibility of resuming the classroom activity, starting in October for the different degrees of education, private and public.

At a press conference, in which he presented the main changes to the situation of public calamity that will take effect from Wednesday, Adão de Almeida stressed that the recovery will be gradual.

The minister recalled that teaching activity in Angola has been suspended since the first half of March, so the possibility of returning to face-to-face classes was decided, after considering all the circumstances, “namely the fact that there has been a considerable period without activity and considering the damage that it results, from various points of view, for citizens, in particular for students ”.

Educational establishments will have to comply with a “minimum set of conditions” that allow, for example, physical distance between students and staff and subject teachers and non-teachers to random testing, and the use of common areas of schools with strong possibility of crowding students.

The rules apply to international schools that are governed by a different academic calendar, and non-classroom classes may start now.

The reopening of vocational and similar training centers, as well as driving schools, will also be allowed.
