Angola with Croatia, Qatar and Japan in Group C of the 2021 Handball World Cup

The Angolan handball team will face Croatia, Qatar and Japan in Group C of the World 2021, according to the drawing of this Saturday held in Giza, Egypt, the country that hosts the race between 14 and 31 January.

The Angolan selection was in Pot 4, together with Cape Verde, Morocco, Poland, Democratic Republic of Congo, Russia and the selection of the American continent (still to be refined).

Angola participated for the first time in this competition in 2005. In its first participation in a world championship, which took place in Tunisia, Angola was in 20th place, and in 2007, in Germany, it was in 21st place.

In 2017, the selection had its worst performance, staying in last place. In its last participation, in 2019, Angola climbed one place, being in penultimate place.

In Group A, the debutant Cape Verde will face Germany, Hungary and Uruguay, while Portugal has Algeria, Iceland and Morocco in F, with Spain, Brazil, Poland and Tunisia in B.

The champion in title Denmark is in Group D, with Argentina, Bahrain and DR Congo, with the runner-up Norway in E, with the bronze medal France and Austria waiting for a team still to be determined.

In the first round, the top three teams from each group advance to the main round, with the fourth ranked, eliminated, playing in a separate tournament.

In the 'main round', the two best teams from groups of four advance to the quarter-finals.

The tournament is scheduled for Egypt, between 14 and 31 January, with 32 teams participating, for the first time, with 30 already found, missing one formation from North America and another from South America.
