Waldemar Bastos and Carlos Burity honored in graphic design mural in Luanda Island

The end point of Luanda Island gained more color and a new face. In what is considered one of the most touristic points of the capital, especially during the bathing season, a mural was painted in honor of singers Waldemar Bastos and Carlos Burity, who died last month.

The painting, which illustrates the images of two great voices of national music, was made on the walls of a water tank.

In declarations to Angop, source of the Art and Culture Foundation revealed that they decided to choose those two singers for the role they played in national music: "The choice of these figures is due to their contribution in Angolan music, passing on the message of struggle, humility and national unity".

The initiative is the responsibility of the Art and Culture Foundation within the International Art Festival - a project that aims to honor the heroes of covid-19 and the fight against racism - which has the participation of 14 Angolan plastic artists.

Waldemar Bastos died on August 10, in Lisbon, victim of cancer. Carlos Burity died two days later, in Luanda, victim of prolonged illness.
