"The municipality of Huambo was crowned winner in the 'Best Municipality in Angola' category. The award recognizes its administrative efficiency, commitment to sustainable development, and continuous improvement of public services," the provincial government said in a statement that VerAngola had access to.

By placing first in Class A of the award, the municipality will receive monetary support of approximately 100 million kwanzas.

The province of Huambo also stood out in other categories. In the 'Health and Well-Being' category, the municipality of Longonjo won first place, "thanks to effective health promotion programs, expanded service network, and innovative disease prevention initiatives that have improved the population's quality of life." Longonjo also placed in the top 3 in the 'Child-Friendly Municipality' category.

Bailundo and Chinjenje were other municipalities highlighted, given their commitment to children and their protection, "reinforcing the province's performance on the national stage."

On the occasion, the governor of Huambo, Pereira Alfredo, emphasized that "these results reflect a committed governance that values strategic planning and places citizens at the center of its priorities."

In addition to Class A, the "Award for Best Municipality in Angola" also included three other classes: B, C, and D.

Class B was won by Camapuca, in Bié, which took home a prize of 90 million kwanzas.

Cangandala (Malanje) won Class C, and Chipindo (Huíla) won Class D, receiving prizes worth 80 million and 70 million kwanzas, respectively.

All categories were divided into classes "A" to "D," awarding various areas such as health, sports, entrepreneurship, culture, tourism, etc.

For example, the municipality of Ingombota was named the best in the country in the "Connectivity, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation" category.

"The award won at the Angolan Municipalities and Cities Fair reflects the vision of the Ingombota Municipal Administration in investing in entrepreneurship, connectivity, and innovation as crucial elements for economic and social development," reads a statement from the provincial administration, adding that the 'Ingombota Empreender Program' (PIE), with its ability to identify opportunities and create solutions for the municipality's youth, drives innovation, while connectivity, facilitated by digital technologies, enables the dissemination of the innovations that make the municipality of Ingombota happen.

The 5th edition of the fair closed on Sunday, with one of the highlights being the visit of the President of the Republic to the event on Saturday.

The awards gala, held on the sidelines of the fair, was attended by the Minister of State and Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic, Adão de Almeida, the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano and the Minister of State for Social Affairs, Maria do Rosário Bragança, among others.
