Speaking this Thursday in Dundo (Lunda Norte), where he is holding a work session, the head of state stated that the two Lundas and Moxico are not yet part of the national grid, but this is not due to neglect, but rather a process that may take "some time."

"Not that we've forgotten, but we are working on it, and it may take some time," he emphasized.

According to the president, there is a "project with guaranteed funding to bring energy from the national grid to Xá Muteba," which will serve as a transition area to reach the three aforementioned provinces.

"We have a project with guaranteed funding to bring energy from the national grid to Xá Muteba. However, Xá Muteba is not exactly a center of high energy consumption, but merely a transition zone to reach the two Lundas and Moxico," he said, quoted by Angop.

João Lourenço also stated that, through Portugal, an increase in the credit line of more than 750 million euros was secured, and that a significant portion of this amount will be allocated to the construction of power transmission lines for the provinces in need.

President inaugurates Lueji A'Nkonde University Dundo Campus

The President of the Republic's work day in Lunda Norte was marked this Thursday by the inauguration of the Lueji A'Nkonde University Dundo Campus.

The campus, "a modern public infrastructure costing 69 million dollars," was inaugurated by the head of state mid-morning this Thursday, according to a statement from the Presidency of the Republic that VerAngola had access to.

The campus "houses the Law and Economics programs of Lueji A'Nkonde University, Dundo branch, and has the capacity to accommodate approximately 8000 students," the statement reads.

After cutting the ribbon and unveiling the plaque, the President of the Republic, accompanied by the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourença, toured the facility.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, that VerAngola had access to, construction began in 2022 and was funded by Endiama.

"The construction, which began in 2022, was funded by Endiama, as part of its social responsibility, with an investment of 69 million dollars. The campus occupies an area of over 85,000 square meters and is equipped with: 87 classrooms, three mock trial rooms, a library, an auditorium, and administrative and leisure areas," the statement reads.

The campus has capacity for over 3120 students and will house, "in the first phase, Law and Economics programs, with plans to expand into new areas such as Accounting and Auditing, Engineering, Health Sciences, and Agriculture."

According to a statement from the Ministry of Health, on Friday the President of the Republic will inaugurate "the facilities of the Lunda Sul Polytechnic Institute, linked to Lueji A'Konde University, funded by Sodiam."

This Thursday was also marked by a meeting with the provincial government. "The President of the Republic, after inaugurating the Dundo Campus of Lueji A'Konde University, chaired a meeting with the provincial government of Lunda Norte, where the state of development of the territory was thoroughly assessed," reads another statement from the Presidency that VerAngola had access to.

On that occasion, the provincial governor, Filomena Elizabeth Miza Aires, presented a detailed report on the province.

"Water supply, roads, electricity, housing, youth employment, among others, were the topics raised by the provincial governor as pressing needs," the statement reads.
