The Interministerial Commission for the Organization of Commemorative Activities Commemorating the Fiftieth Anniversary of National Independence presented objective reasons for rescheduling the ceremony initially scheduled for August 27th and 28th.

"The Interministerial Commission for the Organization of Commemorative Activities Commemorating the Fiftieth Anniversary of National Independence announces that, for objective reasons, it has rescheduled the fifth award ceremony commemorating the anniversary for September 8th and 9th, 2025," reads a statement from CIPRA, that VerAngola had access to.

This ceremony was initially scheduled to take place at the end of this month.

"Initially scheduled to take place on August 27th and 28th, the fifth decoration ceremony, now rescheduled for September 8th and 9th, continues the process of honoring individuals, or groups of individuals, whose actions throughout the nation's history have represented a lasting legacy of dedication and service to the nation," the statement adds.

In previous ceremonies, several well-known public figures have already been decorated by the President of the Republic.

Among the figures already decorated are names such as Agostinho Neto's widow, Maria Eugénia Neto, the artist Nagrelha, the musical group Gingas do Maculusso, and many others.

Also noteworthy are the decorations of the first two Presidents of the Republic, António Agostinho Neto and José Eduardo dos Santos, whose names were among the 163 officers of the Angolan Armed Forces who were decorated last month to mark the 50th anniversary of the country's independence.
