João Lourenço spoke at the opening of the national meeting with the first secretaries of the Party Action Committees (CAP), with the motto “All for the Bases, All for the Communities", which takes place after the event, between May and August this year in across the country, of the assemblies to review and renew the mandates of this party structure.

According to João Lourenço, with the reforms underway in the country, such as the fight against corruption, economic diversification, the program with the International Monetary Fund and greater openness to the world, “a bright future” is envisaged for the country.

The President of the Republic also pointed out the opportunities that the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) has given to young people and women within the party and in the State apparatus, support that will continue.

According to João Lourenço, many young Angolans have already demonstrated that they are prepared to occupy important roles in the party and state apparatus, remembering that, in 1979, when the party leader and President of the Republic, António Agostinho Neto, died, he was a young man who secured the country's destiny.

“Let us go back to the distant year of 1979, when in that difficult moment that Angolans were going through, due to the loss of comrade President António Agostinho Neto, and facing military invasions from external forces, the MPLA, even in that difficult moment, entrusted the direction of the country's destinies to the comrade José Eduardo dos Santos, a young man at the time only 37 years old”, he highlighted.

“We will therefore continue to invest in our young people, prepare them and give them every opportunity to rise as far as their abilities allow, including taking on the highest post of President of the Republic”, he added.

In his speech, João Lourenço highlighted the importance of CAPs, which aim to be “more inserted in society, in communities, not consuming time in meetings and reading documents only”.

“But interacting with people, with Angolans, regardless of their party affiliation, so that they can address the real problems in life that afflict them, linked to housing, water, energy, school for their children, health and other problems ,” he said.

João Lourenço stated that the MPLA “is a great building, the largest political party building that Angola has known since the 1950s”, calling on its members to take care of “its foundations, its foundations”, which are “the thousands of Committees of Party Action".

“Because they are the bases of its support, against the storms created by our adversaries, who, without opposing, encourage and foment disorder, organize and lead subversion, as has now become evident in the approval of the Law against the Vandalization of Public Assets, having been proven, which was already evident, that they are behind these anti-social and criminal practices”, he said.

The leader of the party in power highlighted that, “despite the difficulties that still exist, the problems still to be resolved, it is necessary to tell the citizen how much the executive, supported by the MPLA, has done in favor of progress, economic and social development in the country ”.

“Our comrade first secretaries of CAP deserve all our respect and consideration for the work they do, without the concern of the media that cameras and television would provide if they followed their work,” he said, criticizing the “influence games” that impede their rise to party leadership positions, urging the reporting and correction of these situations.
