This commission, whose mission will be to protect the strategic objectives of the State by preventing acts of vandalism of public goods and services, will be composed, in addition to the Secretary of State for the Protection of Strategic Objectives, of a Secretary of State from the Ministry of the Interior, a Secretary of State from the Ministry of Territorial Administration and a Secretary of State from the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas.

It will also include Secretaries of State from the Ministries of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing, Energy and Water, Transport and Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication (one from each).

The Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces, the General Commander of the National Police and the Deputy Chief of the State Intelligence and Security Service will also be part of this commission, writes Angop.

This new commission will be supervised by a ministerial committee, whose coordination will be the responsibility of the Minister of National Defence, Veterans and Former Combatants of the Homeland, and which will include the heads of the aforementioned ministries.

But what role will this commission play? According to the dispatch, cited by Angop, one of the responsibilities of the commission will be to create appropriate conditions to protect the strategic objectives of the State, whether they are movable or immovable assets, used to provide public services.

The commission's responsibilities also include the protection and safeguarding of classified public and cultural monuments or those that are part of the cultural heritage. It is also responsible for safeguarding sites that are catalogued or that are under special protection by law, which are of great importance to the economy and growth in social, cultural, economic, technical or technological terms in Angola.

The commission is also responsible for suggesting to the President of the Republic the preparation of legal guidelines that are suitable for protecting the strategic objectives of the State, as well as designing a prevention plan to protect public utility assets, such as sanitation infrastructures, an integrated system of movable and immovable assets suitable for collection, etc., writes Angop.

It is the responsibility of the commission coordinator to invite experts when necessary to ensure that the work is well carried out, and to present quarterly reports and an annual report of the activities carried out to the Holder of the Executive Power.

The reasons for creating this commission are related to the fact that the Government makes large public investments in sectors such as energy, water, transport, health, among others, to meet the needs of the population, whose infrastructures have been the target of vandalism, which leaves them destroyed and unable to function properly.

It should be remembered that the creation of this commission takes place just over a month after the President of the Republic reformulated the structure of its auxiliary bodies and created the position of Secretary of State for the Protection of Strategic Objectives.
