Speaking at the seventh extraordinary plenary meeting of the National Assembly, the Minister of Health indicated August next year as the expected deadline for completion of the construction of the new General Hospital of Zaire.
The equipment for the future hospital is already on site, said Sílvia Lutucuta, who also admitted that the construction has been interrupted several times, emphasising that a new company was hired approximately a year and a half ago, which is ensuring that the work is carried out.
In addition, the minister also mentioned the project at the Belize Hospital, located in the province of Cabinda. Quoted by Angop, the minister of Health said that the construction of the hospital unit, which was interrupted due to several problems, will be resumed within two months.
On the occasion, she also spoke about the progress of the Alzira da Fonseca Hospital – an initiative linked to the government of Cabinda – and mentioned that it has a physical and financial execution of approximately 15 percent.
According to the minister, there were constraints with the contractor, but the contract termination and the creation of conditions for a new contract are already underway: "We had constraints with the contractor, but the contract termination is already underway and the conditions for a new contract are being created".
She also spoke about the debt owed to professionals from the province of Cabinda who were working during Covid-19, explaining that payments were decentralized at national level, with the guidance that complaints should be analyzed with supporting documents, and for this purpose, the ministry under her supervision requested support from the General Inspectorate of State Administration, the local government, as well as the finance department to resolve this situation, given that it was possible to determine that some technicians received payments unduly, writes Angop.
