The announcement is from the Ministry of Education which informs that classes start on the first Monday of September (the 4th). In this way – according to a document cited by Angop –, the calendar indicates that the first quarter will run from September 4th to December 15th, in a period equivalent to 17 weeks, of which 15 are academic.
During this quarter the academic competition will take place, including activities such as 'Olympiads of Mathematics, Physics, Financial Literacy', 'SADC Writing Contest', as well as 'Reading', writes Angop.
The start of the second quarter is scheduled for the 3rd of January of next year, and this will last until the 28th of March. Here, in terms of assessment, it is expected that the second grade national assessment will be completed (reading fluency proficiency), as well as the national evaluation of fifth and eighth grades (learning Portuguese and Mathematics).
According to Angop, this period also foresees the realization of provincial school games, which will extend until March 15. While for the break of this period, the zonal school games will take place from April 1 to 12.
With regard to the last quarter, the calendar points to its beginning on April 8 and its conclusion on July 31 next year, says the note, cited by Angop. In terms of the program of activities, it is expected that the 'XII Edition of the Mathematics Olympics', the '6th edition of the Educational System Sample Fair – Educa-Angola 2024', the 'Community Mathematics Olympics Portuguese Speaking Countries' and the final phase of the '6th edition of the Physics Olympics'.
It should be noted that the province of Malanje was chosen to host the official opening of the new academic year, to take place on the 1st of September.
