The announcement of the demolition was made this Tuesday by the municipal administration through a statement quoted by Jornal de Angola.
The measure comes after the studies carried out by the LEA, which, according to Jornal de Angola, came to the conclusion that the best thing would be to demolish the building.
The Municipal Administration of Luanda – in a statement, to which VerAngola had access – informs that the technical opinion on the inspections carried out concluded that there are no "living conditions", given the high level of "risk due to structural instability and insecurity".
"With regard to the measures for the immediate evacuation of building No. 1 of the Prenda lots, as a result of the accelerated degradation and intense corrosion of the reinforcements, which compromised the stability of the building, and after completing the formalities, in a letter sent today, Tuesday, 29th, at the residents' committee, the Municipal Administration of Luanda informs the general public that the technical opinion on the inspections carried out by the Angola Engineering Laboratory (LEA) concluded that there were no conditions for habitability in the building, essentially due to to the high degree of risk due to structural instability and insecurity", reads the note.
Thus, advances: "The Municipal Administration of Luanda will continue to articulate with the Residents' Commission and other entities, aiming at the implementation of the subsequent steps".
Remember that the building was evacuated last April.
This year, the country has already seen a building collapse in the heart of the capital. It was in March that a six-storey building collapsed in the center of Luanda, with no reports of victims.
