João Lourenço, who takes office this Thursday as rotating chairman of SADC, stressed at the opening ceremony of the summit of heads of state and government of the organization, taking place in Luanda, that this is the third time that Angola is designated to hold the great event.

"This fact represents for us the clear recognition of the Member States to the visible commitment that our country has with the most important causes of the Southern African Development Community", he referred.

According to João Lourenço, the summit will discuss issues of importance to the organization, functioning and growth of SADC, stressing that the motto of the event is centered on sustainable industrialization and the inclusive development of the regional community, with human and financial capital as its basic pillar.

"It is therefore important that during the work we can take advantage of the experience of each Member State and reap the best contributions to the success that is intended for our summit", he stressed.

The 43rd Summit of Heads of State and Government, which takes place under the motto "Human and Financial Capital: The main Factors for the Sustainable Industrialization of the SADC Region", is attended by the presidents of Angola, Mozambique, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Zambia, Malawi, South Africa, Botswana, and representatives of the Governments of the remaining seven Member States.

SADC is an economic bloc formed by the Portuguese-speaking Angola and Mozambique, in addition to South Africa, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Comoros, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Namibia, Swaziland, Seychelles, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
