According to a statement from the Ministry of Health, to which VerAngola had access, the holder of the Health portfolio, in her intervention on the panel regarding the RSI Amendment Negotiations, highlighted "the need to comply with the goals of the negotiations, based on focus on the integration of the 55 countries, also looking at political and security aspects".
The minister also said that "it is important to catch up and take advantage of the opportunities so that each State can present its contributions by 2024, at the African Union Summit", reads the statement.
Still within the framework of the work of the aforementioned committee session, Silvia Lutucuta participated in the side event on Malaria Financing carried out by the Alliance of African Leaders against Malaria (ALMA) and the SADC secretariat.
The holder of the Health portfolio defended, on the occasion, "that it is important to maintain a continuous multisectoral approach to the fight against malaria, looking at the social determinants of health and environmental", having added that Member States "must increase the share of financing intended for the health sector and allocate more financial resources to malaria control".
Thus, the government official took the opportunity to appeal to finance ministers and financing entities "to increase health financing in Member States, because only in this way will it be possible to win the fight against malaria", adds the note.
It should be noted that the country is present at this event with a delegation headed by Sílvia Lutucuta, "which also includes the Angolan ambassador to Botswana, Beatriz Morais, the National Director of Public Health, Helga Freitas, the Exchange Director Júlio Carvalho, the National Director of the Medicines Regulatory Agency (ARMED), Katiza Mangueira and other senior officials from the Ministry of Health".
The 73rd session of the WHO Regional Committee for Africa began on August 28th and runs until September 1st, in Gaborone (Botswana).
