It should be noted that this laboratory is part of a set of six to be installed in six provinces, within the scope of an initiative that has funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the American Presidential Initiative against Malaria (PMI), writes to Angop.
On the occasion, this initiative by the United States of America was applauded by Pedro Rafael Dimbo, assistant coordinator of the malaria control program of the National Directorate of Public Health, who, speaking at the opening ceremony of the laboratory, underlined that this attitude join the commitment of the Government of Angola in the fight against this disease.
According to the person in charge, the said laboratory will help in situations where there is a need to "guarantee the diagnoses" carried out in "normal laboratories".
"This reference laboratory will help those situations in which we need to guarantee the diagnoses made in normal laboratories in our health units", he clarified, quoted by Angop.
Afonso Sabino, general director of Hospital Municipal do Soyo, expressed satisfaction with the hospital having gained a reference laboratory. Cited by Angop, the official also considered that this action will require more responsibility and precision from the technicians in the method of reassessing the quality of malaria diagnosis.
