On the occasion, the holder of the Health portfolio indicated that they are "working in coordination with the World Health Organization" and other agencies authorized to certify vaccines, thus placing Angola "in the race to acquire the malaria vaccine".

"We are working in coordination with the World Health Organization (WHO), and other agencies that have the authorization to certify vaccines and we put our country in the race to acquire the malaria vaccine that will be a revolution for us", said the minister, quoted in a statement from the Ministry of Health, which VerAngola had access to.

Sílvia Lutucuta guaranteed that "you cannot look at the disease in terms of hospital and assistance for the treatment of the disease", but they need to "work for prevention".

"We need to take a set of measures, said the minister, that do not depend only on the Ministry of Health and recalled that the Executive is concerned and working in a coordinated way in order to improve more and more", the statement also says.

It should be noted that, also during the day of Saturday, the minister carried out a verification visit to the ongoing works of the hospitals Geral de Cacuaco, Américo Boavida and Neves Bendinha.

On the occasion, she took the opportunity to inform that the General Hospital of Cacuaco "will have 300 beds, with various services including oncological treatment and hemodialysis", according to another note from the guardianship, which VerAngola had access to.

"We have several intensive care services, from neonatal care to services for adults, with operational and technical conditions for the best medical and surgical treatment for a district that lacks reference health units", said the minister, who also highlighted that the undertaking of the Hospital Geral Municipal de Cacuaco presents a "good rhythm in a global order of 68 percent of physical execution".

With regard to the Américo Boavida Hospital – whose works have a physical execution of 7.47 percent –, the holder of the Health portfolio highlighted the construction of the training centre, dormitories, mortuary and the infectious-contagious building, adds the statement.

"The last building will be demolished shortly, which is the M, which has the extension part to improve the requalification", she said.

"As for the Neves Bendinha Hospital, the minister considered that it represents a mixed tertiary level unit that provides primary care and specialized care for burn patients", reads the statement.

According to the statement, the building of the hospital unit was "rehabilitated and expanded, with state-of-the-art material, currently in better conditions, now having a capacity of 129 beds, from the previous 91", and the works present an execution of around 96 per cent.
