Angola attends meeting of Southern African experts

Since Sunday, August 28th, Angola has been participating in the 44th meeting of the Task Force of Senior Experts of the Anti-Money Laundering Group for Southern and Eastern Africa (ESAAMLG).

At the event, which is taking place in Livingstone (Zambia), the country is represented by a delegation led by the director general of the Financial Information Unit (UIF), Gilberto Capeça.

According to Angop, representatives of various public and private sector entities are also part of the national delegation.

The group is also holding the 22nd meeting of the Council of Ministers and the 5th Public/Private Dialogue, in which 19 ESAAMLG member states participate, including Angola, writes Angop.

According to Angop, among the objectives of the event is the approach to Draft Reports from Namibia, Kenya and Tanzania, the result of assessments by the Financial Action Group International (FATF).

Discussion of the AML/CFT Mutual Evaluation (MERs) reports from Kenya and Namibia is also the purpose of the meeting.

The event also aims to discuss the progress report of the high-level mission in Lesotho and to debate and approve the follow-up report with reclassifications from Botswana, Mauritius, Tanzania and Uganda, writes Angop.
