João Lourenço receives African leaders. Cooperation at the heart of the conversation

The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, met with the presidents of Guinea Bissau, Cape Verde and the Republic of Congo, as well as with the Prime Minister of the Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe. The hearings, which took place separately, served to address bilateral cooperation with these countries.

According to a statement from the Government, to which VerAngola had access, the Guinean president, Umaro Sissoko Embaló, was received by João Lourenço on Sunday afternoon, at the Presidential Palace of Cidade Alta.

"Bilateral cooperation between Angola and Guinea Bissau was under analysis at the hearing", the note said.

According to the statement, at another time, the President also received, "with the same purpose", José Maria das Neves, president of Cape Verde.

In the early evening of Sunday, the head of state received his Congolese counterpart, Denis Sassou Nguesso, having dealt with "issues of common interest between the two countries".

"With the same interest, João Lourenço received in his office, at the Presidential Palace, the prime minister of the Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe, Jorge Lopes Bom Jesus", the statement said.

The note states that these four political figures, who were received separately by João Lourenço, traveled to Angola for the funeral of former President José Eduardo dos Santos.

"The funeral ceremony held this Sunday at Praça da República, in Luanda, was attended by several Heads of State and Government, members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Angola, the Executive and civil society", the note said.
