In a note, the ministry adds that the meeting between the head of diplomacy Téte António and the head of the UN stabilization mission in the DRCongo (Monusco), Bintou Keita, held in Kinshasa, "served for the parties to analyze the current security situation prevailing in the eastern region of DRCongo, as well as exchanging views on political-diplomatic initiatives" by the President, João Lourenço, mediator of the process of normalization of relations between DRCongo and Rwanda.
"On the occasion, the two individuals placed an emphasis on aspects related to the coordination between the Luanda Process and the Nairobi Process in this dossier, in particular the good implementation of the Luanda Roadmap, on the pacification process of the eastern region of DRCongo adopted at the Tripartite Summit", held in the Angolan capital on 6 July.
At the tripartite summit in Luanda, DRCongo and Rwanda agreed to create an 'ad-hoc' observation mechanism and an immediate ceasefire, to ease tensions between the two countries, after a meeting mediated by the Angolan President.
According to the press release released by the Angolan diplomacy, "particular attention was given to MONUSCO's contribution to regional efforts, mainly in support and coordination with the Ad-Hoc Verification Mechanism of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (CIRGL), foreseen under the said roadmap".
