General Jorge Manuel dos Santos "Sukissa", Commander of the Angolan Navy, died on Sunday of illness.
"Faced with the loss of such an illustrious son of the Fatherland and in this hour of mourning and pain, the President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief of the Angolan Armed Forces, bows before his memory and presents to the bereaved family and to the Angolan Armed Forces deepest condolences", reads the note sent by the press services of the presidency.
The same note highlights General Sukissa's "valuable legacy" that should inspire new generations of military personnel and citizens in general, "in the perspective of the willingness to selflessly defend the country and the contribution to its stability and development".
He also points out that General "Sukissa", was committed from an early age to the cause of defending the country's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, performing various functions of command, direction and leadership, "with brio, dedication and unusual patriotism that won the respect and admiration of the military class and the Angolan people".
