Serbs eyeing Angolan coffee. Production still does not meet export demand

Angolan coffee has aroused the interest of Serbs, who plan to import the product with the aim of supplying the domestic market and selling the surplus in the Balkan peninsula region. Importing 'made in Angola' salt is also on the table, as the president of the Angolan Chamber of Commerce of Industry (CCIA), Vicente Soares, said.

:

According to the official, who spoke to Jornal de Angola, Serbia's interest in Angolan products arose after the country's participation in the Serbia International Fair, where Angolan businessmen exhibited a series of products and national potential.

"There is a strong demand for Angolan coffee on the Serbian market. Businesspeople in this country request this product every day, and Angola has been responding to requests from Serbian investors. But the biggest problem has to do with the little production that still is seen among national producers", he said.

Vicente Soares warned of the difficulty faced by entrepreneurs in the coffee sector in providing data on product prices on the national market, which conditions the export of the product on international markets.

"The interest of the Serbs is evident, but we have difficulties in providing certain data, especially on the price of coffee in the national market. That is why it is important that there is greater organization on the part of entrepreneurs in this sector, because the requests for this product are so many and we cannot meet the demand", he noted, quoted by Jornal de Angola.

With regard to salt, CCIA has been working in collaboration with one of the largest producers of the product in the country, based in Benguela, together with producer associations, in order to make Angola the main exporter of salt to Serbia. .

"We have a cooperation protocol with the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which was signed at the beginning of this year. After the signing of this cooperation, we have been working with each other, as a result, we participated in the Serbian International Fair, where we exhibited some products of Angola, such as coffee, salt and fish", he said.

The country will be interested in importing Angolan salt for the treatment of animals and for various applications in the industrial sector.

To the same organ, the person in charge of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry also stated that the entity is focused on increasing business partnerships between Angolan and foreign businessmen. The objective is to mobilize entrepreneurs to participate and expose their businesses in international fairs. Argentina, Turkey, Vietnam, Belgium, India and Zimbabwe are some of the countries with which it will be possible to deepen economic cooperation.

"There needs to be an excellent business environment and, we appeal to our leaders, that after the General Elections, the environment of peace is maintained, so that the Government can create the best conditions for the business sector to develop and contribute to the economic growth of the country", he said.
