Cine Geração opens September with the screening of three documentaries

Cine Geração, in partnership with the Cultures of Resistance Network platform, will open the month of September with the screening of three documentaries by Iara Lee, a Korean-Brazilian activist and filmmaker.

According to a statement sent to VerAngola, the documentaries will be shown on Thursday and Friday, September 1st and 2nd.

On the 1st of September, two short films will be shown, namely "From Trash to Treasure: Turning Negatives Into Positives" and "Burkinabè Bounty: Agroecology in Burkina Faso".

The following day, the documentary "Burkinabè Rising: Ther Art of Resistance in Burkina Faso" will be shown.

The statement also mentions that after the screenings, there will be a conversation with the filmmaker.

"Iara's films address topics often ignored by the mainstream media, including indigenous rights, food sovereignty and environmental justice, and are often shot in Africa, the Middle East and Latin America," the note says, adding that the films "have already been screened around the world at events ranging from screenings in refugee camps to major film festivals".

Iara Lee, a Brazilian of Korean descent, is an activist, filmmaker and founder/director of Cultures of Resistance Network.
