Leopoldino Sobral, general manager of Siemens Mobility in Angola, died

Leopoldino Samuel Sobral, Angolan and general manager of Siemens Mobility in Angola, passed away this Tuesday, 3rd of August. The company's CEO remembers him as a “highly qualified, cultured, considerate and affectionate man”.

The news, which took family, friends and co-workers by surprise, caused general consternation and left Siemens "poorer", says Manuel Nunes, CEO of the company, in a statement sent to VerAngola. "He was a special man, deserving of enormous esteem and consideration, which is attested to by the numerous messages of regret we have received from Siemens colleagues and friends all over the world," he adds.

With a degree in Electrical Engineering from ISEL – Instituto Superior de Lisboa, he joined Siemens SA, in Portugal, in 2000 as Technical Coordinator in the Building Technologies Business Area. He later assumed the position of Project Manager in the same area, a role he held until 2012. This year, he became Project Manager in the Mobility Business Area and later Business Development in the Mobility Business Area. Between 2015 and 2019 he assumed the positions of Director in the Mobility Business Area, being Member of the Management Committee, from which he moved, still in 2019, to the position of General Director of Siemens Mobility, Angola Branch, having been responsible for development and monitoring of business opportunities in the mobility sector in the Angolan territory.

"Strongly committed to the common well-being of our country, Leopoldino Samuel Sobral has since early maintained regular relations with various social solidarity institutions, as well as with the development of local initiatives aimed at the progress and social and economic development of communities surrounding", adds the document.
