Covid-19: Angola with 105 more cases, two deaths and 963 recoveries

Angola has registered 105 new cases of covid-19, two more deaths and 963 recoveries from the disease, in the last 24 hours, announced this Monday the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda.

The new cases were reported in Luanda (23), Zaire (18), Cunene (15), Huila (13) Lunda Sul (12), Bié, Huambo, Moxico (five each), Benguela (four), Lunda Norte (two), Malanje, Namibe and Uige (one each), with ages between 6 months and 87 years, being 61 male and 44 female.

Two deaths were reported, two patients aged 45 and 58, and 963 people, aged between 5 months and 75 years, were considered recovered from the disease.

Angola totals since the start of the pandemic 42,920 cases, 1018 deaths, 38,360 recoveries and 3542 active cases, including three critical and 17 severe, as well as 155 hospitalized patients, with 1533 covid-19 test samples processed in the last 24 hours.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 4,227,765 deaths worldwide, among more than 198.2 million cases of infection with the new coronavirus, according to the most recent assessment by Agence France-Presse.

The respiratory disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected in late 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China, and currently with variants identified in countries such as the UK, India, South Africa, Brazil and Peru.
