Capital Markets Commission registers seven new special investment funds

The Capital Market Commission (CMC) registered seven new special investment funds in securities in the first ten days of August, increasing the number of Collective Investment Undertakings (OICs) registered with the institution to 30.

According to a note released by the Ministry of Finance, to which Lusa had access, the new funds are under the management of the management companies BAI Gest and BFA Gestão de Activos S.A, responsible for six of the new funds.

The CMC "has registered BAIGEST Obrigações Mais II, a special closed-end securities investment fund for public subscription. BFA Private II and BFA Private III which are authorized to issue through the management company BFA Gestão de Activos S.A", reads the note.

BFA (Banco Fomento Angola) also holds four special investment funds in closed public subscription securities, the document said.

The CIU industry, states the CMC, "has shown a growing trend". Of the total number of 30 OICs registered at the CMC, "23 correspond to securities investment funds, three to real estate investment funds and four to real estate investment companies".

The CMC is a body supervised by the Ministry of Finance, responsible for regulating, supervising, inspecting and promoting the Securities and Derivatives Markets.

One of CMC's missions is to contribute to the Securities and Derivatives Market's establishment and "evolution as a preferential alternative for capitalization and financing" of the State and Companies.
