Country reached 100 deaths out of a total of 2222 covid-19 infections

The country registered four deaths due to the new coronavirus this Monday, reaching a hundred deaths, and counted 51 new positive cases of covid-19, adding 2222 infections, informed the health authorities of the country.

According to the Secretary of State for Health, Franco Mufinda, the four deaths are of three women, 26, 45 and 65 years, and a man, 75 years, the first in the province of Benguela, all Angolan citizens.

Infections in the last 24 hours were registered in Soyo municipality (3), Zaire province, and the rest in Luanda, 39 male and 12 female.

Statistics also report the recovery of 59 people, 51 of whom were in home isolation.

About the mass testing of the National Police, which began last Thursday, Franco Mufinda said it would end on Tuesday.

With data from this Monday, the country now has a total of 2222 cases of covid-19, of which 100 deaths, 877 recovered and 1245 active, four being in critical condition, under invasive mechanical ventilation, 13 severe, 34 moderate, 38 light and 1156 asymptomatic.

In the last 24 hours, the laboratory processed 471 samples per RT-PCR, 51 of which were positive, adding the cumulative of 53,374 samples processed, with 2222 positive samples.

The covid-19 pandemic has already caused at least 809,000 deaths and infected more than 23.4 million people in 196 countries and territories, according to a balance made by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected at the end of December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.

After Europe succeeded China as the center of the pandemic in February, the American continent is now the one with the most confirmed cases and the most deaths.
