According to Adérito Areias, president of the Benguela Business Alliance, national salt is undergoing laboratory testing and, if all goes well, the country will soon export 2000 tons of salt to the British market.
"Our salt is passing the world's most stringent laboratory tests. If all goes well, we will soon be exporting around 2000 tons of salt to the United Kingdom," he said, as quoted by Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA).
Expressing satisfaction with this achievement, Adérito Areias said that UK companies are demanding, but are still asking for salt "made in Angola."
"For us, this is the greatest satisfaction possible. Right now, we can prove that the very demanding English companies are asking for our salt," he stated, adding: "We must fly our flag to say that our salt is the best salt in the world."
However, it's not just the United Kingdom that has shown interest in the national product: "Right now, we're receiving contacts from England, the Netherlands, and other European countries, asking us to improve our quality. But we have to have organic salt, quality salt, and maintain our reputation as a producer of quality salt," said Adérito Areias, quoted by RNA.
Besides salt, dried fruit production has also attracted Europeans. According to a statement from the Benguela government, which VerAngola has seen, the Benguela Business Alliance signed a cooperation agreement with the Dutch Embassy this Thursday "to boost the production and processing of dried fruit in the province."
