The official presentation of the equipment took place this Wednesday, and on that occasion, the Angolan Basketball Federation (FAB) and FAST signed a partnership.
"The Angolan Basketball Federation and FAST formalized a partnership today [Wednesday] with the signing of a contract that marks a new era for our senior national teams," reads a FAB statement that VerAngola had access to.
"The ceremony was attended by FAB President Moniz Silva, who represented the Federation, and Jorge Araújo, founder and representative of FAST, a national brand that proudly wears the colors of Angola," the FAB added.
Thus, the agreement, signed for an indefinite period, has the main objective of providing equipment for both basketball teams, including official match equipment, training, training camps, casual wear, and formal wear.
At the time, Moniz Silva acknowledged that the country's basketball team lacked a space where fans could find the national uniforms, a need now met by FAST.
According to the FAB president, this brand is still little known in the international market, which is why the agreement foresees sales beginning with this year's Afrobasket double jersey, writes Angop.
"Angola's textile industry is of high quality and should be open to the world, starting with Angolans, especially in a year celebrating 50 years of national independence," he added.
FAST representative Jorge Araújo stated that the goal is to emboss Angola's identity on the official jerseys of the country's national teams, with Samakaka fabric also being used alongside the colors of the flag (red, yellow, and black).
According to Angop, the handball teams, both at the World Cup and the Olympic Games, Petro de Luanda, and Sagrada Esperança, have also been using the FAST brand since last year.
Now it's the turn of the women's and men's basketball teams. The women's national team will wear Angolan-made equipment in the Afrobasket tournament, which will be held in Ivory Coast from July 26 to August 3, while the men's team will play with Angolan-made equipment in the competition, which will take place from August 12 to 28 in the provinces of Luanda and Namibe.
