The caravan, which has 19 vehicles and 35 participants, started its journey on the 21st of July and, until the 4th of August, will travel more than 2500 kilometers to explore Bié in depth.
"This is a 15-day off-road tourist expedition to cover 2532 kilometers between Luanda and Bié, from the 21st of July to the 4th of August", reads a statement sent to VerAngola.
After last year's edition, Banco de Fomento Angola (BFA) decided to reinforce "investment in national tourism", taking the country's oldest tourist expedition to 'Utima Wo Ngola' (in Umbundo) or 'Heart of Angola' (in Portuguese).
Therefore, for this year, the bank's proposal is to "deeply explore Bié, the province that gives life to Angola, not only for its privileged location, but also for hosting the country's most important springs and rivers, such as the Kwanza River, the largest in Angola, the Cuito river, and the Luando river, which forms and gives its name to the second largest waterfall in the country".
Furthermore, the caravan also took on the challenge of unraveling the mysteries of 'utima wo ngola', by visiting Chilesso in order to "discover the mystical cave paintings and volcanic stones that expel several sources of thermal water in the region".
According to the statement, the current edition, which has 19 vehicles and 35 participants, registered a "significant increase" in participants compared to last year's edition.
In the 2023 edition, tourists 'torn' Angola through the Lobito Corridor on the "Okavango trails to surrender to the grandeur of Victoria Falls, in Zambia".
With the motto 'Making Tourism, Making Angola Known', the Raid Cacimbo caravan, in addition to ecotourism and adventure tourism, "has the mission, in all editions, to publicize industrial projects that encourage the development of the national economy", and this year's edition is no exception, with a visit to Novagrolider scheduled.
"Social responsibility towards communities is a sustainable tourism practice that has become a tradition in Raid Cacimbo, this year the Cuerama Project, in Cuanza Sul, will receive a donation of raw materials from the expedition participants to teach the community a craft from the village of Cuerama", the statement also points out.
