KK 5800 housing project will have more houses and will be completed by 2026

The announcement was made by the director-general of the National Housing Institute (INH), António Silva Neto, who reported that the KK 5800 housing project will see its number of homes increase to 10,800. Speaking during a visit to the KK 5800 and Vida Pacífica housing developments, the official said that the rehabilitation and expansion work on KK 5800 is scheduled for completion in 2026.

During the visit – which was also attended by the board of the National Youth Council (CNJ), headed by its president, Isaías Kalunga –, the director general of the INH conveyed the message that the housing in KK 5800 is not yet being sold.

Quoted in a statement from the CNJ, to which VerAngola had access, the official said that the "sales phase will take place after its completion, which is only expected for 2026".

He therefore warned that those who "are making lists and receiving money by promising houses to others are clearly trying to scam".

In addition to this warning, António Silva Neto also explained that for this new phase, in which 10,800 houses are expected, a recovery program has been outlined based on the exchange model due to the lack of public funds available for this purpose, writes Angop.

On the occasion, he said that, so far, approximately 265 apartments and 174 houses have been rehabilitated using this model.

According to the official, the idea was to attract partners "with technical and financial capabilities" for the success of the programme: "The idea was to attract partners with technical and financial capabilities for the success of the programme and, with this, set a quota for the construction company and the Government".

Once completed, he said that they will have a model of purchasing through bank credit, within the scope of an instrument of the National Bank of Angola.

"The candidates will first go through a validation of the process by the INH and will receive a comfort letter to negotiate with their bank, where 70 percent of the amount transferred will be used to restore the house, 25 percent for the cost of the internal infrastructure and the remaining five percent for the Single Treasury Account", he explained, quoted by Angop.

He also reported that by 2026, the institute intends to have all the project's streets properly paved, and work is underway to improve the sewage system.

"The goal is for the urbanization to have differentiated services in the future, in order to provide greater convenience to residents," he said, quoted by Jornal de Angola.

Isaías Kalunga said he supports the 20 percent quota for state housing projects aimed at young people, adding that beneficiaries through the CNJ will be subject to a new selection process with their companies, in order to put a stop to frequent evasion of property payments, writes Angop.

On the occasion, he took the opportunity to lament the fact that around 80 percent of beneficiaries do not pay their monthly fees, pointing out that, together with the institute, they will use all resources to raise awareness among residents, before the State takes legal action.

According to the CNJ statement, the visit took place last Saturday, with the delegation visiting the centrality KK 5800, where "during a guided tour they took note of the progress of the construction of the apartments as well as of the more than 200 houses already built".

They then went to the Zango Zero urbanization, in Vida Pacífica, "having held a meeting with the presidents of the residents' committees of the buildings assigned to the youth leaders, with the aim of appealing to them to create awareness-raising programs so that the residents of the 10 respective buildings pay their installments to the state, in compliance with contractual issues", the statement reads.
