"Believe me, it is a great pride to lead a Government of a country like ours and arrive here and hear from the President of this country, the ministers of this country, the institutions of this country, references that I heard about what the Portuguese here do today", said the Prime Minister of Portugal at the end of his first day of official visit to Luanda, addressing the Portuguese community.

"It is very important that they continue to be an engine of growth and development", he highlighted, adding that Portuguese companies today produce not only for Angola, but for other countries in the region" and make a positive contribution to the country, highlighting that this "active" and "qualified" community is primarily at the service of Angola, but also of Portugal.

Luís Montenegro stated that many qualified young people leave abroad because they do not find the opportunities they want at home, and considered it important that everyone can be a good example "to believe that it is possible to do good things in Portugal and, in this way, attract people of other nationalities" that could bring more wealth to Portugal.

"Only by creating wealth can we have a fairer society that provides opportunities for people not to have to leave the country," he said during the reception for the Portuguese community in Angola, where around 112 thousand Portuguese live.

"There are an immense number of people, not only businesspeople, but also workers, collaborators who bring to this geography, to this country to which ties of deep friendship connect us, much of what it means to be Portuguese, in the first place, and being a good Portuguese in second place", highlighted the head of the Portuguese Government.

"Having this culture of ours, this identity of ours, this way of being of those who, with almost nine centuries of history, who set out to conquer knowledge, to conquer discovery to go further than others had gone before, this is a little of what it means to be Portuguese", according to the Portuguese Prime Minister.

Montenegro declared "a deep respect for those who found abroad an opportunity to lend their knowledge, their knowledge and their ability to produce" in Angola, highlighting that they are great promoters of the ability to do good.

"The more successful Portuguese workers and companies are abroad, the more we are showing everyone the ability we have to do and do well", reinforced the Portuguese Prime Minister.
