Of the eight new ambassadors, six have non-resident status and the other two have resident status.
According to the Presidency of the Republic, the six diplomats with non-resident status are António Papadopoulos, ambassador of Greece, Evelyne Butoyi, diplomatic representative of Burundi, in addition to Rasa Junkukaité, ambassador of Lithuania.
These three are also joined by Phemelo Mbi Rankoro, ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Botswana, Leenq Orvokki Vijanen, ambassador of Finland, and Alisaad Alkahtani, ambassador of Saudi Arabia.
On the side of diplomats with resident status, the head of state accredited Mahammet Mustafa Çelik and Joyce Khasimwa M-Maitsi, ambassadors of Turkey and Kenya, respectively.
The letters of credentials were presented to João Lourenço in separate events, held in the Noble Hall of the Presidential Palace, thus marking the official beginning of the exercise of these ambassadors in the country, says Angop, which adds that at the end of the act, João Lourenço spoke individually with the new ambassadors to discuss issues related to cooperation.
