Luanda International Fair with the participation of 1771 companies, of which 22 are Portuguese

The 39th edition of the Luanda International Fair (FILDA) was attended by 1771 national and international companies, with Portugal leading the foreign presence with 22 exhibitors, the event's organizers said on Tuesday.

In a statement, FILDA stated that the event, which took place between 23 and 28 July in the Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone, focused on food security and international partnerships, "ended with remarkable success".

The event was attended by government entities from Angola and representatives from participating countries, including the Prime Minister of Portugal, Luís Montenegro, "reinforcing international partnerships and Angola's commitment to economic diversification and sustainable development".

"The event registered more than 80 thousand visitors and attracted more than 1771 companies from different sectors and countries, consolidating Angola's position as an attractive centre for international business", the statement highlights.

International participation included 22 Portuguese companies, 16 from Brazil, 13 from Italy (whose trade between the two countries exceeded 840 million euros in the first half of this year), also notable were Canada, the United States of America, China, Germany (12 companies from the energy, renewable energy and industry sectors), Belarus (6 companies linked to the machinery and agriculture sectors), Indonesia (6 companies from the trade, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industry sectors) and South Korea (4 companies from the pharmaceutical and machinery industries).

According to the person responsible for organising the event, Bruno Albernaz, CEO of Grupo Arena, in this edition, the fair "decided to pay tribute to the Lunda-Cokwe culture, recognising its crucial role in the development of the craft industry and in generating family income".

"FILDA 2024 served as a platform for critical discussions on logistics, certification and financial instruments, which are fundamental for strengthening food security and promoting the quality of Angolan products", highlights.
