The Presidential Decree that establishes the updating of workers' remuneration, dated July 17, comes into force 60 days after the publication of the diploma.

After 12 months of entry into force, the amount of the national minimum wage will be updated again, being set at 100 thousand kwanzas.

The current minimum wage is around 32,000 kwanzas.

However, companies and worker representatives can set minimum wages higher than expected.

Companies without proven financial capacity to pay the defined national minimum wage are given the possibility of requesting payment from the Government, temporarily, below the determined level, and authorization cannot exceed two years.

In another Presidential Decree, also dated July 17, the minimum amount for an old-age retirement pension was set at 70 thousand kwanzas and the maximum amount of pensions was set at just above 729 thousand kwanzas.

The decree establishes the Sustainability Indicator of the Mandatory Social Protection System, the Minimum and Maximum Pension Limits and the Expansion of the Mandatory Electronic Declaration of Legal Information necessary to request benefits.

The diploma sets the minimum amount of the survivor's pension at 70 thousand kwanzas and the same sum for the disability pension, as well as the old-age allowance.

Old-age pensions, survivors' pensions, disability pensions and old-age allowances worth more than the minimum amount and less than the maximum amount are subject to an increase of 25 percent, the document states.
