Revenue at the Banana Fair reaches more than 129 million kwanzas

The 10th edition of the Banana Fair closed its doors, last Saturday, with a volume of more than 129 million kwanzas. The event, which took place at the Panguila market, in Bengo, and where more than 360 exhibitors participated, handled approximately 500 tons of various products.

According to a statement from the provincial government of Bengo, to which VerAngola had access, the fair exceeded expectations in terms of the variety of products on display and sales volume.

"The event, which had the participation of 368 exhibitors, including large and small exhibitors, peasant associations, cooperatives, industry, commerce, mineral resources and various services, exceeded expectations in terms of variety of products on display and sales volume which amounted to 129,515,000 kwanzas", the note reads.

Approximately 500 tons of various products were moved, with emphasis on the "sale of bananas, cassava, sweet potatoes, bombó, yams, pumpkins, oranges, lemons, passion fruit, pineapple, vegetables, sugar cane and dried fish".

In addition to the balance of the event, the awarding of the best exhibitors also marked the closing of the fair, which was presided over by the governor of Bengo, Maria Antónia Nelumba and included testimony from the national director of Economy and Business Development of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Allan Varela, and the president of the Board of Directors (PCA) of INAPEM, João Nkosi.

Thus, among the winners, the municipality of Nambuangongo stands out, which won the award in the 'Small Producers' category.

The winner of the 'Large Producers' category was Fazenda Novagrolíder.

"The municipality of Ambriz won the award for best municipality in terms of stand, while in the 'Industry' category, Sino Ord was the best classified", says the statement.

Furthermore, the participants all received certificates of participation, with some exhibitors also receiving certificates of merit: the Agrarian Development Support Fund (FADA), the Angolan Venture Capital Asset Fund (FACRA), the Credit Guarantee Fund (FGC), Novagrolíder, Turiagro and Vida Frech.

"The closing ceremony of this edition was also marked by the delivery of the 'Seal Made in Angola' to two companies based in Bengo, namely AISCO and Água Levita", points out the note.

In statements at the end of the event, the provincial governor expressed satisfaction with the "success of the event", having encouraged "all participants to work harder to surpass the levels of this edition".
