The distinction, according to a statement from BAI, sent to VerAngola, was made at the '2024 Excellence Awards' gala, which took place on the 18th of July, in London.
The English magazine - in a statement published on its website and cited in the BAI note - highlighted the bank's financial results last year, highlighting that "despite the devaluation of the kwanza, the bank continued to increase its customer base and has the largest country's market share in terms of debit and credit cards, with 26 percent of all cards issued".
Furthermore, in its note, Euromoney also recognized that "BAI improved its digital offer in 2023 with the implementation of instant payments between BAI Angola and BAI Europa".
Regarding this award, the president of the BAI executive committee, Luís Lélis, said that it "reflects the effort and continuous commitment" of the bank.
"This award reflects BAI's effort and continuous commitment to improving the value proposition for customers. For the future, our attention remains focused on the challenges of information security, the integration of services and the development of products and services innovative, digital and accessible", he stated, quoted in the note.
However, the distinction of 'Best Bank in Angola in 2024' was not the only award won by BAI, having also been distinguished as 'Best Bank in Corporate Social Responsibility in 2024'.
This recognition, according to the BAI statement, recognizes its effort "to establish partnerships that promote positive changes in Angolan society with a focus on the pillars of education, health, culture, sport and environment".
Regarding this award, Luís Lélis said that it is "a testimony to the bank's commitment" to "contributing to the sustainable development" of the country.
"This recognition is a testimony to BAI's commitment to contributing to the sustainable development of Angola. Through strategic partnerships, we have supported initiatives that have an impact on the current generation and will have on future generations. We are determined to continue our mission of social responsibility, the creating opportunities and improving the quality of life of the communities we serve. The most recent example is the requalification of Largo do Kinaxixi, which will serve Angolans, which is scheduled to open in November 2024", he pointed out.
Thanking everyone for their support, the president of BAI's executive committee also said that "the bank will continue to face challenges with resilience and explore new technological and financial trends, to ensure that BAI remains at the forefront of the banking sector in Angola".
