In a statement sent to VerAngola, BAI states that at the end of last year, the "financial margin stood at 201 billion kwanzas, six percent more, compared to the 189 billion kwanzas generated in the same year of 2022", adding that the "growth in financial margin was driven by the increase in interest on securities and credit to customers".

The institution – which held the Ordinary General Assembly this Wednesday (27 March) – also reports that the additional margin reached 191 billion kwanzas, having grown 155 percent compared to the 75 billion kwanzas recorded in the previous year (2022), which reflects the "increase in results from trading financial instruments as well as results from the provision of financial services".

The banking product, adds the note, "totaled 392 billion kwanzas, representing a year-on-year growth of 49 percent, compared to 264 billion kwanzas at the end of 2022, driven by the performance of the complementary margin".

Speaking at the end of the meeting, Luís Lélis, PCE at BAI, said that "the relevant results in 2023 are the result of the commitment and dedication of employees and the trust of customers".

"For the 2024 financial year, BAI remains committed to continuing to innovate, adapt to market changes and realize sustainable growth opportunities", he added, quoted in the note.

He also said that they remain "focused on improving customer experience and satisfaction, optimizing internal processes and we will continue to invest in advanced digital solutions, technological innovation and financial literacy".

BAI's PCE also took the opportunity to highlight the institution's concern with sustainable development, as well as the creation, last year, of the bank's Sustainability Program, "in order to respond to challenges of an environmental, social and governance nature, which have assumed increasing importance in the national financial system".
